There has been much negative said about Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street in recent times.

Business Editor Ian McConnell highlights the 'good chance' of recovery for this famous thoroughfare flagged by a leading business figure in the city and asks if we should dare to dream of better times ahead for Sauchiehall Street.

There has, to put it very mildly indeed, been much negative said about Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street in recent times.

The fact that it is such a famous thoroughfare, even featuring in song, means that its fortunes will inevitably attract attention.

And, from an economic perspective, it has always been such an important part of the city centre.

There is no doubting that Sauchiehall Street has had its challenges in recent times.

These were, of course, evident before the coronavirus pandemic.

For example, the BHS store site has been unoccupied since 2016, and it has become increasingly derelict.

The landmark Watt Brothers store closed in December 2019, not long before the coronavirus pandemic.

Clearly, the loss of footfall for such a protracted period........
