At the end of Yugoslav Wars, Serbia was mired in a deep crisis whose manifestations included domestic violence and femicide. A 2010 UN survey revealed that 54 percent of women suffered physical, sexual, economic, and psychological violence within the family. By 2013, the murder of women by their partners had reached epidemic proportions.
