Three weeks ago, we and others – all of us Jewish and Palestinian Israelis, who are either historians, political scientists, and experts in international law – addressed a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden. The letter was based on the definition of the United Nations Genocide Convention, a definition that requires evidence of both actions and intent by the perpetrator. We noted that Israel's assault on Gaza met that standard.
