Stop Liberal and Labor’s gaslighting

Opposition leader Peter Dutton has launched a new gas policy, which, superficially, appears to stand up to the gas corporations but does the opposite.

He wants to force gas companies to increase their supply to the domestic market, his rationale being that this will drive down retail prices.

The gas corporations are squealing about it, which adds to the impression that Dutton really is concerned about standing up for consumers’ interests against big business.

Labor is countering that its gas cap, introduced in 2022, has a similar effect and pointed out the Coalition voted against it.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told Insiders on March 30 that Labor has “secured six times more gas than what Peter Dutton committed to securing on Thursday night”.

Neither major party wants to stop gas mining and both are failing to take the necessary action to avert climate........
