The June 3 marathon meeting wasn’t a random brainstorm—it was a response to growing criticism that the ruling party hasn’t delivered on any core electoral promise. But this Delhi Chalo move by the National Conference (NC) legislators is high on symbolism, low on likely impact. Of course it is a legitimate demand but going to Delhi to protest doesn’t make it an effective demand. Actual statehood will depend on the Centre’s political calculus, not a one-day march. It may keep the flame alive, but the fire still needs fuel from Delhi.
