Without going into political debate, my core objective is to focus on what the abrogation of Article 370 has brought to the common citizens of Kashmir. The abrogation period has now completed seven years. It was a historic change, and any change matters, if it is a good change, common people embrace it; if it violates even the pre-existing structure, common people will oppose it. So, the question is: Did the abrogation meet the genuine demands of Kashmiri people? Did it rejuvenate the old, misfit environment in Kashmir? Did the post-abrogation period meet the aspirations and inspirations of the public? Did it stand up in governance, security, infrastructure, tourism, women’s rights, education, healthcare, cultural preservation, financial inclusion, and national integration, transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a region of growth, peace, and opportunity? Is abrogation itself the answer?
The reality is bitter. The abrogation of Article 370 is the hard truth of transformation and change. Repealing Article 370 has brought significant progress across all sectors. Most importantly, it was urgent to restore peace, law and order, rule of law, accountability, and respect for human lives. It ended decades of violence, nepotism, discrimination, secessionism, and corruption that had hindered Jammu and Kashmir’s development. This constitutional change dismantled the special........
