Indian and Diplomatic Essence |
Is it necessary for India to do what Pakistan does at the international stage? Absolutely not. India is doing what it has done always, telling all those involved in the West Asian conflict and other important countries across the world that de-escalation should be real time and it should be followed by sincere dialogue and diplomacy without standing on prestige, in the wider interest of a stable world order.
Pakistan has pitched itself as a mediator between American-Israel and Iran conflict that has devastated the region and shaken the rest of the world. Pakistan is doing it for its own compulsions and obligations to the US, otherwise it should have urged both the United States and Tehran to halt the conflict. it did not do that, it asked Iran to de-escalate the situation to pave way for dialogue. This is sheer double-standard. How can only one party be asked to halt the conflict and actions of the other side are deemed fine. Its one-sided approach is on full display.
This unifocal direction can hurt its own interests as it aims at setting a bad precedent in advancing the agenda of the stronger group and instilling fear in the other. That is bad diplomacy. The very essence of the dialogue and diplomacy is to treat all the parties equal while drawing a distinction that who is to be blamed for the war that has crippled economy of the region.
