Bell: Welcome to Calgary's safe injection horror show

3 0 0

A woman walks her daughter to the school bus in Calgary’s Beltline and they play a game.

Count the Syringes.

Another mom watches her nine-year-old play in the park feeling uneasy when there is a person in full psychosis mode screaming and hitting a tree until their hand bleeds.

The fast-growing crime and disorder around the so-called safe-injection site at the Sheldon Chumir Health Centre, documented in painful detail by Calgary cops, has brought people to city hall.

Oh how the self-styled smart set, the politicians and paper shufflers, smiled and pumped out their chests and looked so virtuous signing on to the injection site, promising all would be well based on research in Vancouver’s crime-ridden Downtown Eastside.

Bring the addicts down, let them shoot up, turn them loose and everything will be just swell.

Now the great brainwave could go down the toilet and the bigshots are scurrying around, trying to do damage control on their pet project.

Sherry Crawford arrives at city hall, armed with emotion and love for her family.

Her daughter and two young granddaughters live a block away from the Chumir.

It was a nice area.........
