Bell: Trans Mountain approval before fall, Notley figures

The premier is not high-fiving anyone, at least not in public.

She does not declare mission accomplished on this day when the National Energy Board recommends Trudeau and company go ahead and thumbs-up the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

Trudeau and company now have to decide. God help us all.

But the premier does gaze into her crystal ball, telling us we’re closer than we’ve ever been to getting this pipeline done.

What else does she see?

Notley does not expect a federal government approval before this province’s spring election.

The premier says that would be too quick and it “would be really silly for anybody to demand that happen.”

Yes, Notley doesn’t believe she’ll get the much-needed photo-op before she asks Albertans to rehire her for another four years.

You know, the snapshot of her smashing a bottle of champagne against Trans Mountain pipe going into the ground.

It is too late, too late.

But as for a Trudeau thumbs-up before the federal election expected in October …
