Sudbury faith: Respect the second chances you are given

I have noticed a trend in advertising on the television – maybe you have seen it, as well. Multiple companies, from fast food restaurants to investment bankers to insurance companies to credit monitors (and many more) have ads on television for a few weeks, then they re-issue them in a shorter version.

My guess is that they run longer ads with all of the information they wish to share, then hope those of us who watch the ads remember the longer version when a shorter ad plays a few weeks later. The companies save money in a shorter ad, while the message still is heard.

This practice is part of a much wider reality in life, what I call the “second chance” principle. We all have been in a situation where we hoped for a second chance to get something done, or to answer a test question correctly, or to finish a project in a timely........
