RMWB looking for 65 volunteers for Snow Angel Program

The annual Snow Angel program is underway and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is looking for volunteers to take part in the 2018-2019 season.

The program is a volunteer service available for residents aged 65 and over to receive assistance with residential snow removal.

According to the RMWB, the program’s purpose is to “serve those who have no other options, providing them with a better quality of life and helping them remain in their homes longer.”

The program’s pilot project first launched in 2009 with nine homes and students from Fort McMurray Composite High School and Dr. K. A. Clarke School were the original Snow Angels.

Today, it’s grown to a city-wide community program with volunteer assistance from local families, high school and college students, church........
