A controversial figure in Congress, the Trump loyalist is often making headlines, including when he led a group of Republicans in ousting former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in 2023. In recent years, he was investigated by the Department of Justice over allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls, drug use and other ethics violations. Gaetz, who denied the accusations, was not prosecuted.
