PUB CHAT: Inspiring Olympic stories
I don’t know about you, but for me, nothing is as inspirational as the Olympic Games, especially the summer version.
There’s just something about the best athletes in the world coming together after years of training and dedication and striving not only to be AMONG the best on the planet but to be THE best. And even if you aren’t into sports, the Games go beyond athletics with stories of humanness, compassion and kindness that truly inspire.
The current Paris version — officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad — have been among the best I can remember in a number of different ways. Sadly, they close tomorrow after their spectacular 17-day run (and hopefully in a less controversial manner than how they opened).
If you follow sports, then you know about some of the big names and their inspirational stories.
Such as American sprinter Noah Lyles, who won the gold medal in the 100-meter dash and the right to be called The Fastest Man in the World and proclaimed on X after the race: “I have Asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety and Depression. But I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become.”
Or gymnast Simone Biles, who very publicly has battled mental health issues in recent years that........
