COMMUNITY GIVING: Special praise for special people, agencies
In the daily pages of the Finger Lakes Times, we are pleased to publish stories about people going above and beyond and doing exceptional things for their communities. We label them “Making A Difference” because that’s what those folks are doing.
For example, recently we have had stories about Ray Ciancaglini and his Second Impact organization hosting the Shields of Honor Gala at Ventosa Vineyards and raising tens of thousands of dollars for the Geneva fire and police departments; and about the Lyons McDonald’s auctioning off a display of Crocs keychain shoes with the proceeds going to the Rochester Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing and services for families of ill children; and about Genevan Wendy Marsh, who was named Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Finger Lakes chapter, an award that “recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to philanthropy and community support.”
We also have had numerous articles throughout 2024 about people who set up GoFundMe accounts or organize fundraising concerts or picnics for friends and relatives in need, along with others about folks who do great things for service........
