In many ways, Geneva has come a long way in the last few years. The lakefront itself is beautiful, a great place to walk, bike, exercise, fly a kite, or just hang out and take in a concert. I don’t love the new highway structure down there, but I can sort of see why that was done.
We now have over a dozen wineries in the area. We have dozens of very nice restaurants serving barbecue, Italian, Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, fine dining, comfort food … you get the idea. There are a lot of places to eat and drink here.
Last week, though, Geneva learned it will soon be losing its movieplex. Yes, fewer movies are released to theaters now due to streaming, and covid certainly hurt the industry, but I still think there is a place for the movie theater in a streaming world.
While it’s nice being able to watch a movie in the privacy of your home, where you can pause and fast-forward and not sit through 15 minutes of trailers, there are still some........
