POSITIVE VIBES: More positive Olympics stuff

As we headed into week two of the Olympics, I’m excited to share some of the positive highlights. While I acknowledge that there are always non-positive events associated with the Olympics, just as with any major event, it’s not my focus or expertise to comment on them. Besides, there’s enough negativity in the news already.

My goal is to highlight the positive.

Let’s start with judo, the only sport where I’ve had the opportunity to train with Olympians. France’s judo giant, Teddy Riner, captured the gold medal with a perfectly executed sweeping hip throw, known as an “osoto gari.” Watching Riner in action is always a spectacle; at 6-foot-8 and 311 pounds, he moves with an agility that belies his size. His victory at these Olympics marks his fourth gold, further cementing his legacy as one of judo’s greatest athletes. Riner’s performance exemplifies the power, technique, and grace.
