It’s been almost a year now since my family lost my mother’s last two sisters, Barb and Shirley. I thought it would be fitting to pay tribute to them and those who left before them.
I’ll start with Aunt Barb. After all, she lived in Geneva for all her 90-plus years. And, for better or worse, she was always around for us.
If you been in Geneva for a while you probably saw Barb and Bob P. out walking every day. In her later years she was in pain and could complain a lot. For example, one day maybe 20 years ago (when Barb was probably my age now), she came to our home and we had this conversation.
Barb: “Where did you guys go for dinner last night.”
Me: “We went to Deluxe with Mom and Dad.”
Barb: “You let your parents pay for your dinner!!”
Me: “No, we paid for them.”
Barb: “Wait, you wasted money on your parents!”
Me: “Barb, how could I have answered that question to your........
