GUEST APPEARANCE: Getting into the batter's box

If one had any doubts concerning my ability to make sound predictions, a perusal of my wagering history with DraftKings would settle the matter. The record suggests that I might have had a decent career as an economist or a weather forecaster.

Nevertheless, as the current election year (is it ever not an election year?) picks up steam, I will make bold with several predictions. 1. The Democratic nominee will get all 28 of NY State’s electoral votes no matter who that nominee is and no matter who the opponent is. 2. No presidential candidate will devote much, if any, time and resources appealing to the citizens of New York. 3. Many New Yorkers will not bother voting for President on Election Day, aware that their vote doesn’t matter.

Granted, New Yorkers will have other people and issues to vote on come November. But the Presidential contest is the big one. It’s the Super Bowl of elections. The World Series of politics. The U.S. Open of the democratic process. We want in!
