Canada’s cultural-industrial complex is doing what it does best — self-congratulation — over the new Crave original series, “Heated Rivalry,” a racy story rated TV-MA (for mature audiences) about two pro hockey players on opposing teams who mix it up, not just on the ice, but also in the bedroom and various other off-ice locations. As one critic told CBC’s “The National,” the series shows how Canadians can “make content in this country that is so incredibly exportable.” It’s about time, you might think: we’ve been pouring money into the industry for long enough.
