Matthew Lau: How Doug Ford can get his popularity back
The Ontario premier must start governing like a Conservative, which means stop spending like his Liberal predecessors

Not long ago, Doug Ford’s Ontario PC Party seemed to have an unassailable lead in opinion polls. In the last week of April, however, an Abacus Data poll showed it at 37 per cent, statistically tied with the leaderless Ontario Liberals at 36 per cent. A separate Liaison Strategies poll put the Liberals slightly ahead, with 38 per cent versus the PC Party at 36 per cent. “Ford in free fall,” the Liaison press release said.
