Glasgow City Council starts 2025 with the sad news of the passing of bailie Jim Scanlon.
A well-known and respected figure in the Gorbals and in his home patch of Toryglen, Jim was a true and dedicated local councillor with more than two decades of service to his constituents.
Even after the boundary changes removed the area from his ward in 2017, Jim continued to function as the unofficial fifth councillor for Toryglen.
Jim’s passing will be keenly felt by everyone associated with the council and I send my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
With temperatures plummeting it will be a difficult start to the New Year for many Glaswegians.
