Are We Becoming Arabised, or Are Arabs Becoming Turkified? – OpEd

In recent years, the increasing Arab population and cultural influences in Turkey have frequently raised the question: “Are we becoming Arabised?” However, this cannot be viewed as a one-sided cultural interaction. Turkey’s secular, modern, and liberal lifestyle norms are also having a significant impact on the Arab population. Notably, countries like Saudi Arabia have shown interest in Turkey’s secular values and have partially embraced them, adding a complex dimension to this discussion.

The growing presence of Arabs in Turkey, particularly in the real estate market and urban areas, has accelerated cultural exchange processes. Many Arab families choose to educate their children in Turkey, fostering closer ties with Turkish culture. The younger generation, in particular, seems to adapt more easily to Turkish........
