Deporting Dignity

The deportation of undocumented Indian migrants from the United States using military aircraft is analysed, highlighting how such practices reflect broader global inequalities and carceral migration regimes. India’s muted diplomatic response and widespread public indifference are examined by linking these to moral framings of illegality and selective media narratives. Undocumented migration is rooted in structural economic inequality and limited domestic opportunities. While borders remain open to wealthy and skilled elites, they criminalise the poor and marginalised.
