Column: Joining the climate change battle
As the years slowly slip by, it is easy to ignore the gradual climate changes as they occur and consider that these are just the extreme fluctuations of a normal environment. As you might say, "Just put up with it." Well, essentially, that's what we're doing. However, I believe the ultimate outcome from that lack of action will come back to haunt us.
First, let's get one significant point made clear: No matter how many politicians rail against the idea that we have an increase in atmospheric temperatures caused by the release of CO2 into the atmosphere, political rhetoric doesn't change the facts. More than 90% of the scientific community agrees that climate change is occurring and that it will have a negative impact on the global community. Global warming is not like a "car wreck."
The information below is not something "Extreme Environmental Richard" has dreamed up. These are consensus opinions and facts from the scientific community taken directly from publications. Climate change will bring about, or has already brought about, some of these weather changes, and unless action is taken, these changes in our weather, brought about by the continued release of CO2 into the Earth's atmosphere, will continue and become more drastic.
