Letters to the Editor for March 22, 2026 |
As we are now in the season of Lent, which is a foreshadow of the death of Jesus Christ. It all adds up to Easter. During the Lent season, we sing some Hymns Dealing with Chirst's death. Ah, Holy Jesus, O Sacred Head Now Wounded and What Wondrous Love is This. As a former Baptist we would sing There is a Green Hill Far Away. Praise Him Praise Him Jesus Our Blessed Redeemer. You need to listen to these Hymns and learn the words of them. This year Maundy Thursday, we are doing a Cantata called Blessed at First Presbyterian Church downtown. It's based on the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. The choir in which I am a part of is presenting this and we hope you will get a blessing from it. Please join us on Easter Sunday. We are going to have a wonderful service and our Pastor Janice West will say Christ Is Risen! He Is Risen Indeed! If you don't know Jesus Christ, then you need to come to know him. Heaven is Eternal with goodness.
Are we in the Garden of Eden... or the garden of Illusion? Looking back at yesterday and searching for -- what? Living in today and tomorrow, it is easy to see why there is much doubt, distrust, suspicion, and challenge to what is happening in our world and nation today! ... Many people tend to question whether there really is a God and creator of all things... or if we are just an accidental life that just -- well -- is?
For whatever reason, there seems to be a measure of confusion on the part of many in our social and cultural society of today, who are of the opinion that our 'God' is not fair and just, in relation to what we have to live with every day.
Before time was ever time, and creation became the center of, "The Greatest Story Never Told"; we find ourselves confronted by a [principality and power] of daily confrontation, and a [named] Satan, who says let me deceive you"! Sadly, the life we now live is, the choices we've made, and that is our reality.
The 'Atheists' say, "I do not believe in God; I am the final authority in my own life! The 'Agnostics' say -- I do not know if there even is a 'God', -- The 'Idol worshipers' say, I will choose my own 'God'! -- The 'prideful and arrogant' say, no one can tell me what to do! And the doubtful say, I want to believe in God, but I don't know where to look?
Truth can be elusive to us; for we often think we know what truth is, and make our choices based of what we believe to be true. Pilate once said to 'Jesus' "What is Truth?" George Washington made an observation within his life experiences and understanding and stated -- "Truth will ultimately prevail, when pains are taken to bring it to light"!
But where can we go to find the complete truth?
Generations of error and failure, if not addressed and corrected, soon finds a place of acceptance, and a presumption of 'truth, which will always separate us in our lives! Governments, opinions, choices, and religions; has 'birthed' the condition of our society and culture... 'Why? We are not set on a firm foundation of truth!
'God' cares what happens to our Nation and Us ... BUT DO WE?'
