My wonderful mother didn’t want anything for Mother’s Day, especially flowers, which, under how keen green-thumb pedigree, wilted by Tuesday.

Her gift request? Be nice and kind to others. Present possibilities they might not have — but the world enjoy and, most certainly, deserves.

But before I share my idea, let’s look at the work the late Bruce Hogle did: first, as Medicine Hat News editor in the 1950s, he initiated a campaign to reduce traffic collisions, and then while at CFRN TV, Hogle began many programs to support the Edmonton community, including Wednesday’s Child, The Good Neighbour Fund, The Block Parent Program and others.

I’ll take my mother’s warmth and love, Hogle’s legacy of making a difference through his media platform, with my ideas.
