Children who attend independent schools are Albertans. They live and reside in our province. And yet, there is a push to strip school funding from them. Families who choose independent education pay for public education through their taxes and then they pay again for their child’s education through tuition.

Their children are funded at just 70 per cent what public-educated kids are funded at. Their tuition and school fundraisers make up the difference. The government does not provide independent schools with their buildings or land. Schools fundraise to offset........
