TikTok sensation runs around towns with camera in his mouth - here's why

Ted Wolford, 28, from Stowmarket, has gained more than 200,000 views from his unique videos running through Bury St Edmunds, Needham Market, Beccles, Ipswich and Norwich.

Known online as DJTedWolford, his content provides an unusual view of the towns as he places his specialised 3D camera in his mouth while he "bolts around".

Backing tracks like the Moo Moo Meadows Mario Kart Wii theme song and the Brazilian hit "Samba de Janeiro" also bring an extra flavour of goofiness.

(function (d, s, n) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; js = d.createElement(s); js.className = n; js.src = "//player.ex.co/player/9eb68dce-e5e3-40c3-a31b-12479fdb5350"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); js.setAttribute('programmatic', 'true'); js.onload = function () { const playerApi256050 = ExCoPlayer.connect('9eb68dce-e5e3-40c3-a31b-12479fdb5350'); playerApi256050.init({ "autoPlay": false, "mute": true, "showAds": true, "playbackMode": "play-in-view", "content": { "playFirst": [ { "title": "DJTedWolford in Bury St Edmunds.", "src": "https://large-cdn.ex.co/transformations-account/production/4a3bc053-9182-43c6-a264-62b0fb218ea8/37d1b0cc-57a6-4353-8f4e-fd873b949314/720p.mp4" } ], "playlistId": "649d6b165f10d8001259835d" }, "sticky": { "mode": "persistent", "closeButton": true, "pauseOnClose": true, "desktop": { "enabled": false, "position": "bottom-right" }, "mobile": { "enabled": false, "position": "upper-small" } } }); }; }(document, 'script', 'exco-player'));

However, Mr Wolford says the idea came out of "boredom" in Suffolk as there is "simply not enough to do".

He said: "We're living in the times where nightlife is degrading, but young people need more activities and nightlife.

"That's why people are turning to digital content for something to do.

"You look at somewhere like Ipswich on a Friday night and it's dead.

"There's just not enough for young people to do. "

What has happened to Suffolk nightlife?

Almost 1,000 night-time businesses have closed in the East of England in the past five years, according to the Night Time Industries Association.

Major venues closing include Revolution in Ipswich, Mossy’s Nightclub in Propaganda in Norwich.

Mr Wolford noted that Bury St Edmunds, in particular, "still has a really strong" events community and is a "positive place to go".

Meanwhile, he also described Norwich as one of his favourite places to go.

However, he said gig bookings in Suffolk were sparse compared to other counties like Essex.

"For my career to continue, I can't just rely on the late light industry here", added Mr Wolford.

"I have to do something a bit different to make it work here.

"The culture of the rinse and repeat club night is dying.

"But music has always been, throughout the ages, an integral part of life in Suffolk, and we need to make it work."

The Suffolk DJ added that he also fears the rise of AI could push out live DJs and "take the humanity away from music".

He is now looking at more ways he can expand his dance music content online and across Suffolk.
