Busy town centre car park to remain closed over Easter

Priory Lane Car Park, in Bungay, has been shut for water main replacement works, and was expected to reopen on April 2.

However, Bungay Town Council has confirmed that "unforeseen circumstances" mean the closure will continue into next week.

Priory Lane Car Park, owned by East Suffolk Council and located behind the now-closed Original Factory Shop, also includes the town's public toilet facilities, which will remain shut for the duration of the works.

In a statement, the town council said: "The planned closure of Priory Lane Car Park for water mains repairs has, regrettably, been extended due to unforeseen circumstances.

"The car park and toilets will therefore remain closed over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and into next week.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and ask that you use alternative car parks available in Bungay."

Visitors are being advised to use alternative parking sites at Scales Street, Wharton Street, and Nethergate until repairs are completed.
