Big names set to appear at Norwich History Festival

Running in July, the festival will feature comedian and writer Charlie Higson, who will present his recent book about the history of British kings and queens.

Mr Higson is a University of East Anglia (UEA) graduate who began his creative career in the city.

Other notable speakers include broadcaster Nicholas Crane, who will explore the historical significance of footpaths in the landscape, and historian Kate Williams, who will open the festival at the Octagon Chapel with a talk highlighting overlooked women from history.

Antony Beevor, one of the most widely read and respected writers on 20th century history, will also appear, reflecting on his life as a public historian at a special event on July 18 at the UEA.

Stuart Hobday, festival director, said: "We’re aiming to offer a wide range of events as part of the festival in which there will be something for everyone whilst showing how history is still relevant to our lives."

Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 25.
