The pair had been in a relationship for 12 months.
The 38-year-old, previously of Well Street, Great Yarmouth, was jailed at Norwich Crown Court for a total 21 months last October.
He had changed his plea to guilty ahead of a planned trial on charges that also included actual bodily harm and assault by beating.
The Lithuanian is now set to ask the Court for Appeal for the right to reduce his sentence and his case will be heard in London on April 21.
He had faced further charges of intentional strangulation and threatening the victim with a knife at the Dolphin Hotel in Great Yarmouth but the prosecution did not proceed and these were left to lie on file.
