Contracts worth nearly £1bn secured by local businesses at start of Sizewell C

Nearly £1bn worth of contracts have gone to businesses in the region - and over the course of the build £4.4bn will be invested here, they say.

The Development Consent Order (DCO) for the 3.2GW nuclear power station was granted on January 15, 2024.

That was followed last summer by a Final Investment Decision which unlocked the finances for the first majority-British owned nuclear power plant in 30 years.

Along with the plant itself, government has promised a host of benefits for local people.

Last year saw plans go in for a new post-16 College on the Coast education facility on the outskirts of Leiston.
