Ready, steady, slow! How snail trail will take over a market town

The starting pistol has fired on a heritage trail that is dedicated to a slow-moving creature that calls its shell its home.

Aylsham is soon to become home to a new heritage trail, comprising of 21 different snails, in a bid to combine history, culture and technology in an interactive experience.

Each "snail character" will identify key historical features of the town, with a mixture of metalwork, woodwork, and stone carvings by Teucer Wilson.

And for the centrepiece of the trail, there will be a giant version of a gastropod........
