Former airbase set for a new lease of life with campsite bid |
Flixton airfield, on the edge of Bungay, was once home to thousands of American airmen during the Second World War.
But now James Genn-Bromley has submitted a proposal to East Suffolk Council to turn the airbase into a campsite and convert two military buildings into business workshops.
The bid also includes renovating a ration store on the land, which is off Grange Road, into a house that can be used as a holiday-let.
In a planning statement, it said: "The conversion of the former military airbase into leisure and light industrial use presents a unique opportunity to blend history, sustainability, and recreation.
"This project aims to create a destination that respects the past while providing a vibrant future for the community and visitors alike."
