Council digs its heels in over bus shelter and orders protesters to move on

Demonstrators in Sheringham have been braving the wintery weather through the day and night to protect the 1950s structure from demolition since Monday.

Norfolk County Council wants to knock down the brick shelter, outside the North Norfolk Railway Station, and replace it with a modern glass and steel 'hub'.

But for locals, the shelter - which showcases a mural from local artist Colin Seal - is a "cherished" part of the town's identity that needs to be saved.

However, despite their efforts, the county council has said that it will not be backing down.
