Churchill's funeral locomotive revealed in line-up for steam and ale weekend |
The North Norfolk Railway will host its Rails and Ales event from June 12 to June 14, offering a packed programme featuring historic engines, music, and a variety of tipples across its stations.
And among the visiting engines will be Western Champion, Class 52 D1015, which famously hauled the return leg of Sir Winston Churchill’s funeral train.
It worked the journey from Handborough Station near Oxford to Paddington, before being retired in 1976.
During its working life D1015 worked a staggering total of 1,296,000 miles and is now one of only seven Class 52 diesel locomotives in........
