Monty Panesar signed with Great Witchingham Cricket Club for the 2024 season after making 77 appearances for England including 50 in Test matches.

Mr Panesar was one of the dozens of candidates for the Workers Party of Britain unveiled by George Galloway in Parliament Square earlier today.

He said he wanted to "represent the working class in this country" and will focus on the NHS, introduce a wealth tax and reduce the pension age to 60.

Mr Panesar, who was born in Luton, hopes to overturn Labour's Virenda Sharma 16,000 majority in Ealing Southwall, west London.
