Roofing manufacturer recognised for sustainability strategy
Axter, based in Ipswich, won the Sustainability Strategy Award, sponsored by Associated British Ports.
It specialises in the design and specification of flat roof waterproofing systems.
The B-Corp certified business is an expert in sustainable roofing solutions, including green roofs, blue roofs and solar PV.
Axter has been accredited as a Silver Carbon Literate Organisation, proving its commitment to engage positively with its communities and to encourage a carbon literate workforce. The business is continuing its journey towards Gold and Platinum accreditation.
By 2030, the company aims to reduce its direct (Scope 1 and 2) carbon emissions by 73% and indirect (Scope 3) emissions by 50%.
This will involve a full transition to electric vehicles and utilising more than 50% renewable energy.
Axter’s operations create biodiversity in urban areas and promote lower emissions through increased material recycling and circular product design.
The firm’s sustainability strategies are designed for scalability and broader application across the construction........
