Bus shelter protest bailiffs stood down as 'secret' town meeting to be held

Protestors have been demonstrating and occupying the shelter by North Norfolk Railway day and night since December 1 after it emerged workers had arrived to start demolishing it.

Today bailiffs arrived at 4am in an effort to clampdown on the protest and remove them.

However Norfolk County Council called off the bailiffs a few hours later, to the delight of the save the bus shelter campaigners.

But there was another twist in the saga after it was revealed that the public are set to be excluded from part of a crunch meeting about the bus shelter's future.

Mark Campling, 50, reached the shelter just after the bailiffs arrived and said: "It was absolutely horrible.

"They wouldn't let us in. They blocked the door. My partner managed to get inside but I couldn't get in.

"It was the worst two hours of my life, with them being so threatening."

Protestors said four people were sleeping in the shelter when bailiffs arrived and two guards stood at the entrance to the shelter to stop further protestors coming in.

Mr Campling said: "We didn't know whether they were going to forcibly remove us. We want to keep this........
