Works progress on new vets clinic at busy shopping centre

Works are progressing as a new veterinary practice is being built at the Carlton Colville shopping centre in Lowestoft.

The new vets clinic will be situated at an underutilised parking area on the Ashburnham Way site.

Plans for the new vets had been given the go-ahead despite concerns over parking and the impact on the doctors' surgery nearby.

An application lodged by agents Alder King Planning Consultants for the applicant Rookman Properties Ltd was permitted by East Suffolk Council under delegated powers in July last year.

Documents said the demand for veterinary care had risen sharply since the pandemic and there are currently limited local options.

Construction works are gathering pace on the single-storey building.

As the works continue half of the car park is temporarily closed to allow site work to take place.

Patients attending the Rosedale Surgery - the GP doctors surgery - and customers visiting the shops are being urged to take extra care when using the car park.
