Two of three McDonald's drive‑through restaurants in the town have now had bids to unveil new freestanding, double-sided signs refused in quick succession.

Last week the McDonald's restaurant on Arbor Lane in Pakefield saw its non-illuminated advertisement consent application turned down after the proposals were described as "incongruous" to the area.

And this week operators of the fast food chain at Kirkley Rise, on Horn Hill - by the Asda roundabout in south Lowestoft - were similarly not "lovin' it" after a bid for new signage at its restaurant was denied.
