Inmates setting fire to own cells in HMP Norwich

HMP Norwich had a total of 37 cell fires in the space of a year according to the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) which observes conditions in detention centres.

Inspectors found: "Some prisoners are deliberately starting fires in their cells.

"There were 37 cell fires during the reporting year, 27 of which were attended by the fire service."
