Reopening for pub 'stacked with history' pushed back

The Earle Arms in Heydon was planning to open this spring after being taken over by new owners.

It had been run by Andrew Harrison for 26 years before he decided to hand it over to the Heydon Estate last year, which is working to reopen it with Norwich-based BREAD Hospitality.

After hopes of opening this month, the estate announced: "The extent of the renovation work required was far more extensive than we had hoped."

The partnership is now aiming to have the pub up and running by July after the renovations on the back bar and kitchen are completed.

Tom Ginn, the founder of BREAD hospitality, said: "It is still very much a building site.

"The old pub is stacked in history, so we don't want to change too much.

"We want to keep it as a cosy, lovely pub with great food and accessible to everyone.

"The aim is to showcase Norfolk by having brilliant service and good food filled with local produce."
