College staff striking over better pay and working conditions |
City College Norwich staff are striking after college bosses refused to make a fair offer over pay and working conditions.
The University and College Union (UCU) confirmed on Friday, January 10, that the strikes will take place on:
Staff will be on the picket lines from 7.30am until 11am on each of these days at the main City College Norwich Campus on Ipswich Road and at Paston College on Grammar School Road.
Striking staff from across England will then gather at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster in London, from 12pm on Friday, January 16.
In October last year, 91pc of staff from 68 colleges across the country voted to back strike action in a ballot.
The UCU, alongside its sister unions NEU, GMB, UNISON and Unite, is calling for a new deal for Further Education, which includes a 10pc pay rise and national agreements on workload.
The Association of Colleges (AoC) previously recommended a pay rise of 4pc, but colleges do not........
