Sizewell C wins Educational Trailblazer category at Clean & Green Awards |
Sizewell C is a national infrastructure project that is looking to deliver a 3.2GW European pressurised reactor (EPR) nuclear power station in Leiston, Suffolk. It will look to be a key component in the UK’s drive to net zero once the project is complete.
Sizewell C’s Power Up! Programme helps young people understand how clean energy is produced within the nuclear industry, and showcases the environmental benefits and mitigations that a large project like Sizewell C has on the local area.
Throughout the programme, students learn more about the wildlife and the ways that they are protected through the project.
Students also gain knowledge of how net zero can be achieved through an effective energy mix, and are educated about what skills they would need to enter the associated industries.
