Norwich man arrested after woman sexually assaulted on early morning run

It happened along a path off Iliffe Way in Stowmarket, between 5.45am and 6am on Wednesday, November 19.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was out running when she was approached by an unknown man, who pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

Officers have investigated several lines of enquiry and, last month, they arrested a 36-year-old man from Norwich on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was later released on bail until Monday, June 8, pending further enquiries.

Three other people have been arrested in connection with this incident and remain under investigation.

One 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape, and has been bailed until June 25.

Another man, 35, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape.

He has been bailed until June 2.

A 50-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

She is no longer on bail but has been released under investigation.

The victim continues to be supported by specialist trained officers and has been assisting detectives with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact West CID at Bury St Edmunds Police Station by calling 101 and quoting reference: 37/65640/25.
