All the reasons you'll never want to leave this pretty Norfolk village

Tucked a few miles inland from the north Norfolk coast, it is full of flint cottages, Georgian charm and plenty of places to shop, eat and drink.

Burnham Market has often been dubbed "Chelsea-on-Sea" and has topped many best places lists, including several ranking Britain's "poshest" villages.

Here are just some of the reasons you will fall in love with it.

It feels like a film set

Burnham Market’s centre wraps around a generous green.

You will find winding side streets, climbing roses and pastel front doors that are a gift for your camera roll, as well as historic details if you look up, including old pub signs, carved stone lintels and date stones.

Independent shops you’ll actually want to browse

This isn’t a village where “shopping” means just a newsagent and a charity shop.

Burnham Market boasts a mix of boutiques, delis and galleries.

Find ladies' fashion at Gilly's, an impressive collection of hats at Pentney House and fine wines at Satchell's.

Old School Books is home to a variety of literature and Uttings offers a range of homeware and gifts.

Drinks, snacks and long, lazy lunches

Food and drink are a big part of Burnham Market’s charm, with way more choice than you’d expect for a village this size.

Socius delivers clever seasonal small plates, No.Twenty9 shakes up cocktails and elevated comfort food and long‑running Tilly’s Café keeps things cosy with proper coffee, brunch and home‑baked cake.

The Hoste Arms' beer garden was previously named one of the best in the UK and The Nelson is great for a cosy pint.

Both venues also serve food.

A great base for a stylish stay

One of the main reasons tourists base themselves in Burnham Market is how close it is to the coast.

Holkham, Brancaster and Wells‑next‑the‑Sea are all within easy driving distance.

Because of this, there are so many great places to stay.

The Hoste has won a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award, placing it among the top-ranked venues across the globe based on reviews.

There are nine boutique rooms at No.Twenty9 and The White House is another well-rated spot.
