Villagers call for 15mph limit after thousands caught speeding over medieval bridge

Potter Heigham Parish Council has backed a package of measures aimed at tackling long‑standing concerns about speeding, parking and pedestrian safety on the village's medieval bridge.

Councillors agreed to call for a 15mph speed limit over the bridge, a signal‑activated pedestrian crossing, and - if funding ever allows - renewed support for a dedicated pedestrian bridge.

The bridge, a Grade II listed structure over the River Thurne, is one of the most recognisable landmarks on the Norfolk Broads - but it has long been a flashpoint for safety concerns.
