Village to expand car park after Christmas fundraiser cancelled |
Great Yarmouth Borough Council approved a planning application by Fleggburgh Village Hall to build hard surfacing in order to extend its current car park, providing an additional 37 spaces.
The proposal also includes accompanying work on landscaping, planting, CCTV and lighting.
The village hall is located to the south of the A1064 near Great Yarmouth and set back from the main road, with a children's playground in front.
The approval of the plans followed the cancellation of a Christmas 2025 fundraiser at the venue due to parking concerns after rain, which cost the local church about £800.

The village hall hosts 13 clubs a week, regular PE for the primary school, weekly post office, private parties and fundraisers.
Around 40 cars using the car park twice a day for school drop‑off and pick‑up.
The proposal will extend the facility to the south, behind the village hall and bowling green.
The planning bid saw 14 representations received in the public consultation with 11 in support and three objecting to the plans.
