Spa retreat authorised after operating for years without planning permission

Lorraine and Paul Thompson have been granted retrospective approval to change the use of their property, the Black Barn on Market Lane in Filby, to a mixed-use leisure facility.

The site includes a spa, treatment rooms, a café and four holiday cabins with hot tubs.

A previous bid to regularise the business was refused in July 2024 over fears of “urbanisation” of the countryside.
